My Work of the Week this week is the Te Papa scavenger hunt that we done in Wellington on our trip in week 5.  I got 22 points from all the answers I found with Alesha and Laura. The scavenger hunt was fun and we found out a lot by paying  more attention to the signs if there was no scavenger hunt we wouldn’t have found out about the Blue whale and things like how much of the trees in NZ are natural.

My Work of the Week this week is my limericks poems. We had to make three limericks and the rhyme pattern was A A B B A and the beat pattern was 3 3 2 2 3. Out of my three poems only two had the right beat and rhyme pattern and that is why these are my work of the week.

There was a group of ladies         Who were all from the 80s      They had a smile    as big as a dile      but each women had rabies

 

There was a young family named ball     that lived in a giant hall      who couldn’t agree       on what the degree       is to make a call

 

I think these are good limericks that all follow the right pattern that is needed.

My Work of the Week this week is my unusual creation I made for calf day. I dressed up a tennis ball as a tennis playing tennis ball and it turned out great. The biography about it worked well with it like its fav drink was energy drink and its fav place was the tennis court,fav tv programme was the us tennis open. It came first in the judging out of all the other great creations.

My Work of the Week this week is the Designer Dreams cookbook which has taken all term to make and now we have 30 books ready to sell. The thing I like best about it is that the picture looks great and it looks pretty profesional though there are a few things we could improve on like when punching the holes in that we keep all the pages even for when we bind the pages together.

My Work of the Week this week is my theme project about the moon. I worked with Alesha for this and we done a comedy video except it didn’t really turn out like a comedy so we just added some cool bloopers at the end with some music. We’ll improve next time by putting more funny things in. When our movie was finished it turned out really good and we are pleased with it.

The movie will be in another post in a day.

My Work of the Week this week is my flash facts scores because I have been on book 6 for 14 days and it has finally started to improve.I am getting scores of 16 and 17. When I first started I was getting scores of 10 and 11. I am glad that my scores are improving because I am getting faster and more use to the equations in the book. I still need to improve more so I can get scores of 19 and 20 but I hope that will be soon.

My Work of the Week this week is my graph which shows how many different times students use paper, scissors and rock. The reason I choose this was because it shows what it is about and what the graph shows. Next time I will improve by explaining what my graph is about and keep it more tidy. From this the results show that in game one player 2 likes using rock so you would use rock when playing them and in game 2 player 1 uses scissors more often so when playing player 1 you would use rock.

I have choosen this as my Work of the Week because it has more descriptive words than any of my other storys and it is interesting right through the story.

You have ten minutes to find them all.
“ on your marks get set”
“WAIT” Katlins brother Mitchell yelled in my ear. “ where are we allowed to go”
“everywhere except the kitchen, are you ready now”
“Yes” we all giggled
“ 1, 2, 3 go” Mrs. Appleyard said really fast.
Half an hour later- “we’ve searched everywhere and there are no eggs anywhere.”
“we’ve even tipped the place upside down”
“well, where’s your mum” I asked
“in town” Katlin said silently as if she was
Disappointed
“well lets go watch a DVD for now”
“just till she gets back”
“yes”
“ok”
So we went inside and started watching a DVD. As soon as Katlins mum was home we were all charging up to her and then we just asked her as if she was in trouble
“where are the eggs.”
“I can’t remember” Katlins mum said calmly
everyone’s mouths just dropped open and Mitchell was yelling and screaming demanding I want my eggs now and I think he started sobbing a bit as well. We followed Mrs. Appleyard into the lounge, the wash house, the bedroom, then into the kitchen. We watched her put away the groceries, clean the table, send Mr. Appleyard to get fish and chips. Then she opened the cupboard, The cupboard with all the eggs. Big 1kg ones and 1000s of tiny and medium ones just for six girls and one boy. We charged for the eggs me and Katlin jumped onto the bench and threw eggs at everybody when we were finished we grabbed the massive 1kg egg that also had small eggs
Inside it and split it up between ourselves while everyone else gorged there eggs.

My Work of the Week is my maths goals which we are presenting on a A4 piece of paper and it will go on the wall in the classroom.I did two maths goals the first one wasn’t very good because you could still see heaps of white but the secound one was better because I covered up the white background with a light gold pencil and the lettering was straighter  than the first time.The reason I covered up the white was because there will be heaps of white ones and now it won’t blend in. I haven’t finished the good copy yet there are still a couple of things left to be done but they will be done soon.

Overview…                                                                                                                                 My groups experiment was to see if plants could survive with different water.
My prediction was that they would all grow but the dye one will change its colour.
Below is a picture of the boiled, hot tap, cold tap, refridgerated and dyed water.

                                                              

Results…                                                                                                                                                                          As you can see only the tap watered plants grew with the others still at seed stage. My prediction in this case was wrong as they did not all grow, so I think we can say that plants don’t like boiled, dyed or refridgerated water.

Closer observations…                                                                                                                              Both plants that grew did not grow the same with the cold tap at 9cm and the hot tap at 4 cm.As the pictures show, the lupin that has cold tap water grew a lot more than the hot tap water so I can assume that cold tap water works faster and better. 

Problems…                                                                                                                           These are some other things that also may have affected our results such as, *The dye colour and product being changed half way through the experiment.                                                                                                                                                  * The plants being moved at some time during the process.                                                                                                                                                       * And the dye not being exact every time.

Things I’d do differently next time… 

A few things I’d like change would be to have the plants be watered on the weekends, measure the plants at the end of each week so we can see the difference and who’s winning, and include more interesting thing to water the plants eg, rain water, tea, coffee, mabye even juice.  

Possible further studies…

A couple of things I could study based on my results are                                                                                                                                                                 * Why the cold tap water worked better than hot tap water.                                                                                                                                                            * To see if a plant that doesn’t get disturbed will grow better.                                                                                                                                                              * To trial different seed varieties.

Anther-The Anthers contain pollen sacs. The sacs release pollen on to the outside of the anthers that brush against insects on entering the flowers. The pollen once deposited on the insect is transferred to the stigma of another flower or the same flower. The ovule is then able to be fertilised

Filament-This is the stalk of the Anther.

Sepal-Sepals protect the flower whilst the flower is developing from a bud.

Petals-Petals are used to attract insects into the flower, they may have guidelines on them and be scented.

Cold tap waterI think so far the plants have grown a bit to slow and one thing that surprised us was that they grow a lot more over the weekend than during the week. 

Hot tap water

I think the outside temperature had a big effect on the growth of the plants. I think the refrigerated water wouldn’t grow much because the temperature outside was cold and so was the water and the boiled water was to hot.   Cold water

I think the plants are growing to slow than other students and they aren’t getting enough sunlight in the corner they are in.

I think that the boiled water seed is as small as it was when we first started the experiment.

ArtMy work of the week this week is my daffodil that I am doing in options as you can see it’s not finished yet but when it is I think it will turn out really good. The think I like about it is that I haven’t put any big pieces in. It is hard to get small bits of paper and trying to make sure that the paper sticks down and doesn’t go over top of the black line.

Term2 Week 1-2   day one Cold tap water Introduction

           Our Aim-Our aim is to see if plants need a certain kind of water to grow.

                       Day-one Cold water       Our Prediction-Our prediction is that all the plants will grow and the one with the dye will change its Colour

Our Procedure- We filled 5 identical containers with soil to the top we then added 2 seeds to each one and watered each with half a yogurt container and the different kinds of water they need. 

One Has refrigerated water

One has cold tap water

One has Hot tap water

One has a pinch of dye in the water

           Variables-The variables we have kept the same are the sunlight,the soil,the container,water amount,the seed,location.

          The variables we have changed is the water type like the water heat and colour

The reason I like the logo is because it came out 90% like how we sketched it on paper and I think our logo is original and bright and also goes good on our business card.

This is my work of the week becauseI think it is the best report I have written and also because it has non of my own opinons in it.
 
Jessica and Mathew uncover the hidden secret about the tooth fairy due to a prank they played on her (the tooth fairy).
they were Fortunate enough to do this by putting a fake tooth under Mathews pillow. The tooth fairy and her evil robots And minions took them to their palace which they built out of your child/rens teeth the palace they are building will be sold to the fairy god mothers mentally disabled sister. And it was all just for money.
This is what Jessica and Mathew had to say “It was really scary we shrunk to the size of a
highlighter, then we were in her palace.”
Jessica says that Mathew shrieked that we were gonna die. “I got free and ran to find a tooth phone and rang the cops, the tooth fairy was
arrested and that’s all I can really think of, the palace has now been turned into a school for the poor.

 This personal writing is five minutes of my holiday.  I have
focused on putting the five senses into my writing to create a clear

Ready,Set,Go “come on, lets go. Can you go any slower “Sssh close it slowly,go under here. It was eleven O’clock the moon was out shining like a star, well actually it was orangy. we were hiding in the pool area under the new chair that we were given to by grandma at christmas time.Now Me and Laura are waiting for Caitlin,Courtney,Alyx and Bridgette. I’m so bored and excited all at the same time. I’ve been, I mean we’ve been waiting 10-15 minutes hoping they’ll find us soon. I’m bored I wonder what would happen if I made dog sounds. Ruff ruff, woof woof. Yes it scared them so much you could hear them screaming. “Over here”“oh no, here they come.” “And there they go” Woof woof “ssssshhh,oh no go away go away.” 5,4,3,2,1 Spotlight. We had been found oh well it was fun while it lasted “want one of those delicious ice cream” ” yeah lets go.”

In my reading group we have been reading a book called This Land We Call Home and have had to make up some questions and this is a question I thought was very good.This question is an analysing question which means that you have to put yourself in a similar position. The reason I like this question so much is because it does fit into the analysing box.

what would you do if you got kicked off the bus like the boy george in the book?

See if you can make some questions like asking “what would you do if you”? and see if you can also answer this question even if you ain’t reading the book.

Last week we got 5 books donated to us by Tip Top, Rachael Hunter and story lines. we got to read the books to the room6 Children who really liked the book that we read them which was called the little tuatara and they were all excited to have some new books in the library.

Working With Others

I think I worked with others good cause we were all working and doing what needed to be done together.

5/5 what I did good is that I worked with everyone in my group.

Drawing out the important information

Me and my group drew out the important information very well we crossed out everything that wasn’t important and only kept the important information.

4/5 What i did well was I kept the important information and got ride of the less important information

Figuring out what the question asking

I thought figuring out what the question is asking was a bit easy and a bit confussing sometimes but i figured it out in the end.

3/5 I can improve by reading the problem a bit more than just reading it once

          Problem Solving

 

Today in problem solving I worked with others because I discussed the problem with the other members in my team I looked at the person talking and I listened to everything that was said.

I knew the problem was solved when we were explaining how we had got the answer. I contributed to today’s problem because I stayed focused and put my ideas and answers in. I found the last question kind of hard at first till I read it again. Next time I will try and make it easier to understand the question that we have to answer.

Wednesday the 22nd of October

Calf day 

At matapu school

Starting at 9:45 onwards.

BLACK HAT:

My apple went brown when it was cut up to make the butterfly and my butterfly broke into half.

GREEN HAT:

I could improve on my vege/fruit creation next time by colouring the colour of the apples inside of the butterfly so it doesn’t go brown.

YELLOW HAT:

The good thing about calf day is that we can bring pets calf’s and lambs and we can participate in all activities that  the school organized for us to participate in. Calf day is fun for the whole community to participate in.
